Value Engineering final designs approved

City Park, Corona, Ca
The Parks and Recreation Commission was presented with and approved the final value engineering designs for City Park. These redesigns include a larger and more open community canvas, a larger gymnasium, and reworked community center. Keep an eye out for more updates as the City hopes to wrap up the design process later this year.

Value Engineering Options Introduced
The Parks and Recreation Commission was given an update and presented with value engineering options. These options are meant to ensure that the City maximizes funding and provides cost-effective alternatives to items such as park sizing, building materials, park layout, and more.

City Park Final Design Approval
City Park Master Plan is moving along at a very steady and consistent pace, the project renderings were presented by RIOS and reviewed and approved at both Parks Commission and City Council Study Session. The final design was approved by City Council and the RIOS team is working on preparing all needed construction documents to prepare the bidding process. Construction is anticipated to begin in Spring of 25.

Downtown Revitalization Plan Update
On March 6th, City Staff presented a Downtown Revitalization Plan Update sharing major initiatives along Grand Blvd. & 6th Street to breathe new life into the heart of Corona, our Downtown.

City Park Outreach: Pop-Up Event
Concept Renderings were on display at the Circle City Center for public viewing the week of February 19, 2024. As a result of all community outreach methods beginning October 2022, over 2,100 survey responses were collected. 150 responses within 1 mile of City Park, 325 within 1-2 miles, and 555 within 2-3 miles showing a wide and even distribution of respondents.

City Park Design Contract Awarded
The contract for RIOS was awarded at the City Council meeting. RIOS then prepared three design concepts. Based upon feedback received, a final design concept was developed and presented to the Parks Commission and City Council. The final concept was approved with some minor changes and RIOS is now developing construction plans with the City. Design is expected to last through fall 2024, with a contract award in Winter 2025. Construction is anticipated to start in spring 2025 and last for two years.

Adoption of the City Park Master Plan
Thanks to the thousands of surveys and comments we’ve received we have been able to adopt the City Park Master Plan, and have a clear cut guideline to its future.
