City Park Master Plan is moving along at a very steady and consistent pace, the project renderings were presented by RIOS and reviewed and approved at both Parks Commission and City Council Study Session. The final design was approved by City Council and the RIOS team is working on preparing all needed construction documents to prepare the bidding process. Construction is anticipated to begin in Spring of 25.
On March 6th, City Staff presented a Downtown Revitalization Plan Update sharing major initiatives along Grand Blvd. & 6th Street to breathe new life into the heart of Corona, our Downtown.
Concept Renderings were on display at the Circle City Center for public viewing the week of February 19, 2024. As a result of all community outreach methods beginning October 2022, over 2,100 survey responses were collected. 150 responses within 1 mile of City Park, 325 within 1-2 miles, and 555 within 2-3 miles showing a wide and even distribution of respondents.
The contract for RIOS was awarded at the City Council meeting. RIOS then prepared three design concepts. Based upon feedback received, a final design concept was developed and presented to the Parks Commission and City Council. The final concept was approved with some minor changes and RIOS is now developing construction plans with the City. Design is expected to last through fall 2024, with a contract award in Winter 2025. Construction is anticipated to start in spring 2025 and last for two years.
